How to cancel Adult FriendFinder
Cancelling Adult FriendFinder (AFF) is two separate jobs: stopping the payments (turning off auto-renew) and, if you want, deleting the account. Doing one doesn't do the other.
Step 1: Turn off auto-renew (stops future charges)
These are the steps on AFF's own help pages. Menu names can change slightly, but the path has been stable.
- Log in on the AFF website (not through a link in an email).
- Hover over My Stuff in the top menu and click My Account.
- Click Billing History & Credit Card Info.
- Use the toggle next to each subscription to switch auto-renew off. If you bought more than one product, check every line.
- On the confirmation screen, choose Cancel Auto Renew (or Pause for 1, 2 or 3 months if you only want a break), then click Submit.
- Screenshot the confirmation and keep any email you receive.
You normally keep paid access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Step 1 (alternative): You pay through Apple or Google
If your receipt came from Apple or Google Play, cancel there instead. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
- iPhone or iPad: Settings, tap your name, Subscriptions, choose the subscription, Cancel Subscription. Apple's steps.
- Android: Google Play, profile icon, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, choose it, Cancel. Google's steps.
Step 2: Hide or delete your profile (optional)
- Hover over your handle in the top-right corner and click Settings.
- Under Manage My Account, choose Close Account.
- Pick Hide my profile for a break, or Please Delete My Account, enter your password and click Submit.
Do Step 1 first. Closing the account and stopping renewals are separate settings, so make sure auto-renew is off before you delete anything.
If you're still being charged
- Call AFF support. Its help pages list a toll-free number for the US and Canada (888-575-8383) and an international number (669-208-0364). Have your username and the charge date ready.
- Put it in writing. Use the copy-and-paste message in our general cancellation guide.
- Talk to your card company if you're charged after cancelling. That's a billing error you can dispute.
Avoid the next surprise
- Switch auto-renew off the same day you buy if you only want one period.
- Set a calendar reminder two days before the renewal date anyway.
- Remember that a 12-month plan renews as another 12-month charge.
