Is Adult FriendFinder legit? What to know before you pay
Short answer: Adult FriendFinder (AFF) is a real, long-running adult dating site run by an established company, not a fly-by-night scam. But it charges through auto-renewing memberships, it has had serious data breaches in the past, and like most big adult sites it attracts fake profiles. Go in with a budget, a separate email and auto-renew switched off.
How we wrote this. This review is based on Adult FriendFinder's own help pages, its published terms, independent pricing reports and public reporting on its history. We haven't finished our own hands-on test yet, so there's no score here. We'll update this page when we have. Prices and menus change, so check them on the site before you pay.

What it costs
AFF doesn't publish a public price list, and prices vary by country, promotion and length of plan. Independent reviewers in 2026 report Gold at roughly $35.95 for one month, with lower monthly rates on 3-month and 12-month plans (around $26.95 and $19.95 a month, paid up front). Treat those as a guide only; the price on the checkout page is the one that counts.
- Longer plans are paid up front. A "per month" price on a 12-month plan still means one large charge.
- Auto-renew is on by default. AFF's help pages say renewals use the card on file unless you switch them off.
- Extras cost extra. Some features are sold separately from Gold, so read what's included before you upgrade.
What's reassuring
- It has operated for decades and publishes help pages, phone support and its terms.
- You can switch auto-renew off yourself online, and pause it instead of cancelling if you prefer.
- You can hide your profile or delete your account from settings (Settings, then Close Account).
- The live checkout page shows the price before you pay.
What to watch out for
- Data-breach history. In 2016, a breach of FriendFinder Networks exposed more than 412 million accounts across its sites, about 340 million of them from AFF, including usernames, emails and passwords. The company said no payment card data was taken. There was also a smaller breach in 2015. Use an email and password you don't use anywhere else.
- Fake and inactive profiles. Big adult sites attract scammers and dormant accounts. Be wary of anyone who messages you instantly, asks for money or tries to move you to another site to "verify". Our fake-profile guide shows the signs.
- Card at signup. A card may be requested for age verification. Check exactly what, if anything, will be charged before you enter it.
- Renewal surprises. If you only want one month, turn auto-renew off straight after you buy. You normally keep access until the period ends.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
Suits: adults who want a big, established adult-dating community and are comfortable managing their own privacy and billing settings.
Not for: anyone who wants a relationship-focused dating app, anyone who can't afford a recurring charge, or anyone who would be seriously harmed if their membership became known. In that case, think hard about the breach history first.
Our take so far
Legit, in the sense that it's a real service from a real company that tells you how to cancel. Whether it's worth it depends on how active it is near you. Start with the shortest plan, switch off auto-renew on day one, and use a separate email.
Questions people ask
Is Adult FriendFinder a scam?
No. It's a real subscription service. The risks are the usual ones for adult sites: recurring billing, fake profiles from third-party scammers, and privacy.
Does AFF show up on my card statement?
Something will. AFF's help centre has a page on what appears on your bill, so check it before you pay. Our discreet billing guide explains how statement descriptors work.
How do I cancel?
Turn off auto-renew under My Account, then Billing History & Credit Card Info. Full steps, including app-store billing and deleting your account, are in our AFF cancellation guide.
