Short answer: joining Adult FriendFinder (AFF) is free, but free ("Standard") members can only send a limited number of messages and can generally only reply to Gold members who paid for that. Gold comes as 1-, 3- or 12-month packages. Independent reports put it at about $35.95 for one month, with lower monthly rates on longer plans that are paid up front. It auto-renews unless you switch that off.
How we wrote this. What's free, the packages, payment options, renewal and the billing name all come from AFF's own help centre, checked on October 17, 2026. AFF doesn't publish a public price list (its help pages say prices vary with promotions, discounts and location), so the dollar figures are independent reports, labelled as such. The checkout page is what counts.
What you get free
AFF's help centre says Standard membership is free and "always will be", and lists blogs, interest groups, member stories, contests and live model shows and chats among the free features. The limits that matter are on messaging:
- Standard members are limited in how many messages they can compose. Gold members can compose unlimited messages.
- Standard members can only reply to Gold members who bought the "Standard contacts" feature. To reply to everyone else, you need Gold.
- Viewing other members' full profiles, photos and videos is one of the things AFF says prompts an upgrade.
What Gold costs
AFF's help centre lists three starter packages: 1 Month Gold, 3 Months Gold and 12 Months Gold. Reported prices in 2026:

Auto-renew: on unless you turn it off
AFF's help page says purchased subscriptions renew automatically using the card on file. To change it: hover over My Stuff, click My Account, then Billing History & Credit Card Info, and use the toggle next to each subscription. You can pause renewal for 1, 2 or 3 months, or cancel it. How you can pay
According to AFF's payment-options page:
- Cards: Visa, Mastercard and Discover.
- Checking account (US only) and direct debit (some EU countries), taking 7 to 14 business days.
- Gift cards (US only), through a third-party site.
- AirTM e-wallet in some countries, for 3- and 12-month plans only.
- Mailed check, cashier's check or money order in US dollars.
- SMS phone billing in the UK.
What shows on your statement
AFF's help centre says orders are billed as FFNHelp.com*FRIENDF, and the order's "Thank you" page shows how the charge will appear. More on how billing names work in our discreet billing guide.
Is Gold worth paying for?
- Stay on the free account for a week first and see how many real, active members are near you.
- If you upgrade, start with one month, even though longer plans look cheaper per month.
- Switch auto-renew off the same day if you only want one period. You normally keep access until it ends.
- Be wary of anyone who messages instantly and pushes you to pay, move to another site or "verify". See our fake-profile guide.
